Carnival meeting: 13th July @ Orwell Hotel, 7pm
Cycle Felixstowe Joins Felixstowe Carnival! ✨✨Carnival meeting this Thursday (13th July) at 7pm✨✨ As you probably know, the Felixstowe Carnival weekend is fast approaching (22-23rd July) & we are registered to join the procession (starts @ 1pm on Saturday 22nd & moves through the town & down to the seafront) & will also have a stall/info point along the prom over the weekend. The carnival theme this year is 'Seaside Traditions' so we are going with that theme & making it all things cycling. We are proposing to decorate bikes for the procession, both with the seaside theme & Cycle Felixstowe being on display. It's a great opportunity for us to get more publicity & support & we feel getting involved in community events is both enjoyable & beneficial all round. So! If you would like to join the procession with your bicycle (or even without as a support) please get in touch. We need to have an idea of numbers etc to plan accordingly. We have many ideas for the bike (& people!) decoration & will have a small budget for this, but any ideas or items you have please feel free to bring/suggest. We are thinking a group bike decorating session would be nice, say the day before the carnival. However if you wish to do your own at home rather than in a group that's fine. We'll produce a few things so there is something for everyone to attach to their bikes &/or wear & so that we have a CF thread running through, but with each bike being made individual by you also. Flags & leaflets are already in production. We'll also be collecting shells from the beach to use & if you wish to do so whilst out walking/sunbathing please do. Feel free to dress up also! Some Ideas for decoration: Shells, beach huts, deckchairs, bucket & spade, sand castles, swimming-related items (including attire), seagulls, sea creatures (crabs, starfish, sea horses etc), seaside cuisine (ice cream, sticks of rock etc) & Felixstowe-Specific things like Martello towers etc etc. We have a £30 voucher for Ruby's Cafe on Bent Hill kindly donated & Ian has suggested that this be the prize for 'Best Decorated Bicycle'. So let's get creative! We are holding a meeting this Thursday (13th July) at 7pm at the Orwell Hotel to get everyone who wishes to get involved together & get everything in place.
